The goal of the Montgomery County Public Defender’s internship program is to teach future lawyers the skills to successfully advocate for their clients in criminal trial or negotiation settings. The intern will learn general principals of criminal procedure from arrest to appeal with a week-long training session, and then get actual experience with:
- Client interviews (in office and in custody)
- Client follow up
- Negotiations with opposing counsel
- Status updates with the Judiciary
- Disposition of the case
- Trial preparation
Certified legal interns under PA BAR Rule 321 and 322 will have the unique opportunity to interact “on the record” with opposing Counsel and the Judiciary in conducting various hearings.
Interested candidates should contact our Intern Supervisor Georg M. Griffith, Jr., Esquire. for more information.
